Apparel Product Development Designer

DGK is a skate lifestyle brand specializing in men’s apparel and skateboards. We’re located in North County San Diego. Candidate must be organized, self-motivated, detail oriented, solid written/oral communication skills and be a positive team player.

GENERAL SUMMARY

This position will work directly with internal Design. This position is responsible for designing seasonal fashion collections consisting of Men’s tops, bottoms, and accessories related to skate and streetwear culture. This position requires a strong understanding of garment constructions and general design details including skateboards. The ideal candidate will possess a strategic and commercial mindset and have an excellent awareness of fashion and color trends.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

· A minimum of 5 years of experience in the apparel design industry preferably in Young Men’s fashion, surf/skate, streetwear, and lifestyle industry

· Having experience in graphic design will add to the candidate’s suitability.

· Extensive knowledge of Illustrator, Photoshop, and In-Design, ProCreate a plus.

· This position requires a strong understanding of garment constructions, fabric bases, and general construction details

· Comprehensive understanding of design process, solid flat sketching skills and excellent design and color sense

· Team player and works well in a fast-paced environment

· Detail oriented and organized.

· Ability to draw a plus.

Responsibilities:

• Understand and execute company product vision and business strategy while considering the broader product objectives beyond immediate pattern and technical needs.

• Execute design and fit intent into sales samples while maintaining Design aesthetic.

• Lead fit sessions and take initiative as the fit expert of specific products.

• Track and manage workflow to meet development timelines.

• Take ownership of assigned responsibilities and deliverables.

• Ability to adapt to shifting priorities while maintaining productivity and quality.

• Identify opportunities for process optimization and cost reduction without compromising quality. Implement best practices to enhance the product.

• Stay current with industry trends and innovations in technical design and construction methods to continuously improve product quality and performance.
